International Adult Learners' Week

International Adult Learners' WeekFrom April 2-9, 2011, Community Adult Learning Councils, community literacy programs, and post-secondary institutions in communities across Alberta joined the provinces and territories and 40 other countries to celebrate International Adult Learners’ Week.

This worldwide event is organized annually by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to recognize the achievements of adult learners and promote the importance of lifelong learning.

Events Across Alberta 

Every year, Advanced Education and Technology invites post-secondary and community organizations to join the celebrations by organizing events or activities that highlight the value and importance of lifelong learning.

Never Ending Learning Conference
This conference is organized by adult literacy learners for other learners and tutors. We welcome Laurie Greenwood as our keynote speaker. Each registrant will take part in two 1.5 hour workshops (choosing from 10 options). We will close with a Celebration of Learning (sponsored by Edmonton Community Adult Learning Association - ECALA), featuring stories primarily from adult literacy learners. Mayor Stephen Mandel and author Marina Endicott will also be joining us at this celebration.

This workshop will familiarize participants with the Roots and Connections resources with a focus on playing the role of a cultural bridge for newcomers.   2. Digital Camera and Emailing Pictures
    Participants will learn digital camera tips and tricks. They will download pictures to the computers and learn file management practices. Participants will also learn to attach pictures in an email, and to zip files to email several pictures at one time.  The workshop will be video-conferenced.
